Remembering my first awakening as an adult seeking the truth of who I AM:
I simple statement from a person in an Alanon meeting speaking to the group, and I paraphrase here, "You are loved unconditionally just for being. You do not have to do anything." I can remember actually registering shock! My brain had to wrap itself around such a wild remark. I had never heard that, I didn't have to do something to be loved? It literally changed my life. Just a simple statement of Truth.
"You are loved unconditionally just for being. You do not have to do anything", how well do you know that? Is it really real for you? You are loved unconditionally by the Universe, God, Buddha, Jesus...whoever or whatever you believe is "out there" or "within you". I hear it, I know it is the Truth but I don't know if I get it most of the time. I act as though I need to behave a certain way, have a job, earn money, do more and have things, etc..but it is not the Truth. The best part is when I don't worry about all that stuff, I feel the love resonate within me and I know deep in my soul who I AM.
Take a mental, emotional and spiritual check everyday and see where you stand with it.
How often do you think otherwise, or, are you a rare person who knows it all the time?
I think most of us waver between knowing we are the Universe's child and unconditionally loved, and feeling not good enough, separate from our Divine Being. Sad, but true of this human experience. Part of the path of remembering...Who We Truly Are. The challenge for me is to really understand and believe that even when I waver to the "not knowing", I am still loved unconditionally.
I remember once, someone from a traditional religion telling me I would not be saved if I did not believe their way. I was young then, but I still hold to my answer, "If there is a God and she/he is all encompassing and unconditionally loving would she/he not love me totally whether I believe on not?" The answer is a resounding "YES!"
